Our Center
Our center has a
great West Omaha
location
conveniently located
on the corner of
156th and Maple
Streets. We have
over 7,000 square
feet of made up
seven classrooms, a
large kitchen, a
spacious indoor play
area, a safe and
secure outdoor
playground area as
well as a Computer
lab and a new
expanded Art area.
Safety
Safety is a top
priority ABC
Daycare. Our center
is controlled at all
times. We have a
controlled access
with a key pad entry
given only to
parents at the time
of enrollment. We
have an open door
policy to all of our
parents throughout
the day. However,
anyone that is
picking up other
than parents 1) a
phone call has to be
made to the Center
from the parents
informing us of a
change in pick-up
and 2) that person
has to provide a
picture I.D. at the
time of pick up. We
believe
communication
between the parents
and the staff at
ABC helps us to
maintain a secure
facility at all
times.
On-Site Cook
ABC Daycare strives
to provide the best
nutritional meals
and snacks to our
children.
Therefore, we know
the importance of an
on-site cook.
Our cook takes pride
in her kitchen and
the hot, nutritious
meals she provides
to each classroom.
We have a variety of
different menus
throughout the
course of the month
giving children the
options of trying
many different
items. We also follow
the guidelines set
by the Nebraska Food
Program.
Outside Playground
We know how
important physical
activity is during
the course of a day.
Therefore, we make
it a priority to
have our children go
outside at least
twice a day for
fresh air.

While outside, our
teachers will help
to develop that
physical activity
through our large
outdoor playground.
They are able to
engage in free play,
take part in the
playground as well
as have fun in the
water and sand box!
Inside Play Area
While we are all
familiar with the
Nebraska winters, we
are realistic that
they cannot get
outside every day.
We are so lucky at
ABC to have two
large indoor play
areas. One area is
dedicated to the
smaller children
with a large
playhouse, slides,
riding toys and
various indoor age
appropriate games.
They use this room
daily in inclement
weather to promote
physical activity as
well as free play.
Our other large
indoor play area is
geared towards our
pre-school and
school age
children. It is a
new room with over
2,000 square feet!
We have equipped
this room with
ping-pong,
basketball arcade,
air hockey, Wii's,
and X-box Kinect!
It is also where
we have our Library
Nook and a separate
room which is our
Computer Lab
equipped with iMacs
and iPads.
Computer Lab
In the last six
months, we have a
newly added Computer
Lab. We are
very excited to
introduce computers
to our children at
ABC and our teachers
are thrilled about
being able to
demonstrate the
basics of technology
on the iMacs and
iPads. Of
course, they are not
replacing our
already fantastic
curriculum but have
become a wonderful
addition. The
iPads have some
wonderful apps to
enhance the learning
at ABC such as Fish
School to enhance
pre-literacy skills.
Children are able to
play with letter
sounds, letter
forms, and rhymes.
They can also help
in the area of
cognitive
development.
Puzzles are
wonderful for
children's spacial
reasoning (we have
hundreds of puzzles
in our center) as
well as problem
solving.
The iPads have a
Shape Builder app
that helps children
to explore with
shapes while fine
tuning their
physical and mental
skills. These
are just a few of
the examples of why
we feel it is a
benefit to have
computers and
technology as part
of our curriculum at
ABC.
Art Studio
At ABC, we also know
the importance of
imagination and
creativity through
Art. Therefore, we
have an Art Studio
equipped with
tables, easels, and
plenty of room for
our artists to
explore their
imaginat ions.
Our teachers
know that creating Art
is a sensory
exploration activity
which builds a
child's self
esteem. Also, while
working on an Art
project, young
children develop
control of large and
small muscle groups
as well as eye-hand
coordination. Small
group art activities
also help children
practice important
social skills like
taking turns,
sharing, and
negotiating for
materials. We are
excited about our
new Art area and our
children are
certainly enjoying
making their
masterpieces in a
much bigger space! |
